Award-winning author Brian O'Hare invites area veterans to an informal conversation about writing and the military experience.
O’Hare is a graduate of the US Naval Academy who served for six years as a US Marine Corps officer, including in the 1991 Gulf War. He will be at The Rest Gallery at 113 W. State Street in Ithaca from 3 to 8 p.m. on November 8 to promote his new collection of stories, Surrender. At 8 p.m. he will head over to Pete's.

Brian O'Hare is a writer and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. His work has appeared in War, Literature and the Arts; Santa Fe Writers Project; Hobart; and other journals, and he has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes. He was named a Writing Fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and recently served as Visiting Writer at CUNY/Kingsborough (Brooklyn). He’s currently at work on his debut novel.
This event is co-presented by Story House Ithaca and Warrior Writers–Tompkins, a group that gives veterans a chance to come together as a community to reflect on their collective experiences and express them through writing.
