About this event
Join storytellers and story lovers for an informal evening of swapping tales at Argos Inn's patio bar. Host Steve Paling welcomes guest host Richard Rivera, a social justice advocate with many stories to tell. Bring a story (maximum eight minutes) or just come to hear what others have to offer. Admission is free but a donation is requested.
Richard Rivera is associate director of Cornell’s Prison Education Program and outreach and reentry coordinator for Opportunities, Alternatives, and Resources (OAR) of Tompkins County. He is also an ethnographic researcher looking at the intersectionalities of mental health, substance use, and homelessness in Ithaca’s homeless encampments commonly referred to as “The Jungle.” Richard received two college degrees while serving 39 years in prison.
The outdoor bar is under a tent, so the event will go on rain or shine!
