About this event

Story House Ithaca is pleased to partner with Performing Identities Across Cultures (PICS) on the 2025 PICS Annual Microtheater Festival. The event will take place on November 15 at the Community School of Music and Arts in downtown Ithaca.

Microtheater, which originated in Spain in 2009, features short pieces performed in small spaces, creating an intimate connection between the audience and the performers.

The festival organizers invite proposals for ten-minute performances, in any language and in any genre, that reflect upon the organizing theme of “Disruptions.” They especially welcome proposals with topics related to women of color, Latine(x), Black and Afrolatine(x), Caribbean, Indigenous, and other underrepresented experiences. There will be a juried cash prize for the best performance.

The deadline for proposals is October 15. For more information, contact Debra Castillo at dac9@cornell.edu.

This year’s festival is organized by Teatrotaller, Cornell’s Spanish-language theater ensemble, and sponsored by the Central NY Humanities Corridor, a consortium of colleges and universities whose members include Cornell, Colgate, Hobart & William Smith, and Syracuse University. Additional support comes from Cornell Latina/o Studies. This is the first year that the festival is open to community participation.
